Disposable face masks

You may think that disposable face masks are only for doctors and nurses who work in a hospital or office. For a long time, this was the only time you saw them, but now you start to see them everywhere you look, especially during flu season. Do not dismiss them as something you can never use as you may find that they are very useful and even necessary in your life at some point. They may seem expensive at almost a dollar a piece to some, but they are worth that price if they do the job they were intended for.

Today, if you enter a hospital during or before flu season, you will see a supply of disposable face masks on the way out the door. Most offices and hospitals now ask you to get one of these if you have the flu, have been exposed to the flu, or are simply concerned that someone else you pass may have the flu. This can be very effective in stopping the spread of the flu in a medical setting where you are more likely to get the flu. Feel free to use them and don't feel silly about it, unless of course you like having the flu.
If you have a newborn during flu season, you may want to have disposable face masks in your home for visitors if you are not sure if they are okay or not. If you have a premature baby that you bring home during flu season, you should be even more careful as they may have weaker immune systems. If you don't feel like having guests who can expose your premature baby to the flu, close your house. There will be some people, such as grandparents, who may want to visit. You can offer them face masks and let them know that they are non-negotiable.

You can use them for other reasons too. If you're allergic to dust, dusting and cleaning your home means shaking, wheezing, coughing, and even breaking out in hives. You can use disposable masks to help keep some of this powder out of your lungs while trying to use it. Although there really is no way to keep dust out of your home and even your lungs, you can prevent some from entering your nostrils with a mask. You can also use them if you're out in the spring and your allergies are getting the best of you. It may not look pretty, but you'll feel a little better wearing one on particularly bad pollen days.

These are not your typical Bedazzled medical face mask, and they have their limits. Disposable masks can help you when you're doing things like painting or working with fumes, but then again, they may not be the right type. If you are thinking of using them for something like that, be sure to buy the right type. They cannot protect you if you are not using one intended to avoid the materials you are working with. There are masks for all kinds of work, so check things out and buy the ones that fit your needs.
